Music composer M. M. Keeravani who also won with the lyricist Chandrabose was awarded the prize for the Indian Telugu-language track.
"Naatu Naatu" the Indian Telugu song from the action film RRR beat out songs performed by Rihanna, Taylor Swift and Lady Gaga to win best original song at the 2023 Golden Globes.
Musician M. M. Keeravani was awarded the award Tuesday evening in The Beverly Hilton. Keeravani shares the honor with the lyricist Chandrabose.
"Thank you so thank you HFPA for this award of distinction," Keeravani said onstage. "I'm extremely excited to share this moment with my wife who is right there."
"Naatu Naatu" beat Rihanna's Black Panther: Wakanda Forever track "Lift Me Up," Lady Gaga's "Hold My Hand" from Top Gun: Maverick, Taylor Swift's "Carolina" from Where the Crawdads Sing, and "Ciao Papa" written by Guillermo del Toro, Alexandre Desplat and Roeban Katz, inspired by Del Toro's Pinocchio.
"I'm thankful that I got the chance to discover in my early years that music was what I wanted for me. I'm thankful to my parents. I'm thankful for my public school that I attended which had music classes." stated the composer who won for Babylon.
